Azure Magazine
Azure Magazine is an award-winning architecture magazine founded in Toronto, Canada. The Frontier Team collaborated with the Azure Team to art direct key articles on various issues in 2019. Our goal was to develop editorial designs which reflected not only the tone of the article but, to reinforce the narratives of the architecture itself. During my time with this project, I worked on both the September and October Issues.
Process
We developed our concepts based on the articles themselves, creating an experience that allowed readers to not only think about the article's content but, to feel what it's like to be in the environment themselves.
Explorations of space, elevation, colour, and illustration were used to create wonder and excitement with each passing story. In this case, for the Interiors and Innovators issues, we worked with developing a feeling of the interior's space and functionality and the mind of the innovator's design process. To maintain creative freedom and preserve the tone of Azure Magazine, we closely collaborated with Azure's editorial and design team.
